January is full of classes for our senior citizens! The SAILS classes (Stay Active & Independent for Life), begins on January 3rd at 10:30 AM in the old Town Hall next to the library. This twelve-week class includes learning new information about maintaining strength, balance, and health; better health through better circulation, stronger muscles, better balance, and increased activity; and the chance to meet new people, feel better and move better. The class is 12 weeks long and meets both Tuesdays and Thursdays. As are all library programs, the class is free and taught by Holly Harper. Call the Library for more details.

Also in January, we will be hosting ACP classes on Monday, January 23 at 6 PM and Monday, January 30 at 6 PM. These classes will give you three documents when completed: a personal statement, an advance directive, and a durable power of attorney for health care. For more information and to sign up, call the Library at 287-3763.

On January 18th we will be hosting a four-week set of presentations on Alzheimer’s and Dementia. The programs will begin at 10:00 a.m. Topics will include Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia, Understanding Alzheimer’s Behavior, Effective Communications Strategies, and Money Matters. This is the time to learn about Alzheimer’s and Dementia before someone in the family is diagnosed with one or the other. These programs are free and open to anyone looking for more information.

PBSKids will be here on January 20th to help us celebrate the Chinese New Year for Storytime. Miss Deanna always has a bag of tricks to share crafts, games, music, and more with our littlest readers. Story times are at 9:30 AM, 10:30 AM, and 1 PM every Friday, and are open to anyone birth to kindergarten age.

The library will be closed for New Year’s on December 31st, January 1st, and 2nd. We will be open regular hours the rest of the week. We will also be closed on Monday, January 16th for Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Calendars are out for January so come pick one up and see all your favorite programs. We have also been processing many new books and movies to check out for the holidays. Our Young Adult section is full of new series and novels for the teens in your life.
