Trojan Wrestlers Look Forward to 22-23 Season

The Whitehall Wrestling Team is looking forward to an exciting year. Led by returning state place winners Miles Hoerauf and Leo Scafani and joined by a large team of wrestlers, the team is planning on leaving its mark on the mats this year. Along with Hoerauf and Scafani, the other seniors are Dane Hoover, Michael Reiff, Karson Klapan, Kyle Denny, Gavin Watson, Harley Dunn, Nick Denny, Blake DuBois, and Blake Ritz. Other returning members are juniors Ivar Radcliffe, Isaac Skogen, and Wesley Biggers; sophomores Wyatt Casagrande, Cody Fuller, and Ethan Wock. New to the team, but not to wrestling, are Reilly Slater (junior) and Sam Valov (sophomore).

This year Montana High School Association voted to allow 8th graders to join the high school squad. This will be a huge plus for Whitehall, as we have a good group of talented 8th graders; Tucker Witzel, Jack Raty, Adam Martinez, Gunner South, Anthoney Porter, Joey Beebout, Braxton Walker, and Levi Fuller.

Whitehall also has a girls wrestling team again this year, consisting of Cassidy Collins and Alexas Rector.

The teams will be managed and organized by Addi Sullivan and Annie Pettersen.

Whitehall's first competition will be Friday, December 2, and Saturday, December 3 at the annual Cascade Badger Tournament. Last year there were 20 teams represented and Whitehall placed 3rd. This year they are looking for improvement. The result of the tournament can be followed almost live on the website "Trackwrestling."

Next week is a big week of wrestling in Whitehall. Action will start Thursday, December 8 with an evening dual. Friday and Saturday, Whitehall will host up to 20 teams, with two full days of high-level competition. The large community support and involvement in running this tournament make it a highlight of the year.

The rest of the team's schedule can be found on the school website.
