Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
I love watching big machines building things. As a child, I would go to huge construction jobs with my dad and ride around with him on his motorcycle as he checked out all the different areas of new shopping centers, schools, automobile plants, and more. There is a new ambulance barn going up by my house and I must confess I spent too much time watching the digging up of all that dirt! It seems that all over Whitehall there are new businesses going in, construction going on and new people coming to join the community. It is great to see our town thriving and growing!
We want to thank Deanna Mydland and PBSKids for the exciting party for Daniel Tiger last week. Deanna provide each child with their own little Daniel Tiger stuffed animal and did a number of centers for the children. We are always thrilled to have her come and visit our children.
Okay, back to the Library business. We are offering a children’s two-week 3-D printer class on Wednesdays at 3:30 PM on October 19th and 26th. Students must be registered as there is only room for ten at a time. The class is free and the Library will provide everything participants need to create a 3-D item during the class.
The Friends of the Library are a great group of people who enjoy assisting the Library staff in multiple ways. This incredible group of people helps raise money for our programs, host the Christmas Stroll reception, brings meals for the summer feeding program, and volunteers at the Library to keep the books flowing to the public. They will meet on October 13th, Thursday, at 5 PM. If you are interested in joining the Friends just come and attend the meeting. There is no charge to be a Friend and everyone picks the areas they are interested in helping with.
The new Rock hounding group will meet on Monday, October 17th at 6 PM. This is such a great opportunity to learn about the fascinating geology in our Treasure State as well as meet others with similar interests. This is an organizational meeting to discover interests for future programs, share resources, and meet new friends.
History Book Club will be meeting a week early this month on Monday, October 24th at 6 PM. We are discussing a biography of a U.S. president or their spouse. The club will be lining out topics for the winter months as well as book suggestions for each topic.
The Lit & Flics group is finishing up their first book and will be reading Frankenstein beginning October 18th. The purpose of the club is to read classical books, learn the background and literary history of each book, and then compare it to the different movie versions. The discussion is led by Luke Forney, who also provides all of our wonderful lectures.
