Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 10/8/2022

October calendars are out, and they are full of fun and exploration! On Wednesday, October 5th, at 10 AM we will be hosting a party for Daniel Tiger! All preschoolers and their families are welcome to come and help Miss Deanna from PBSKids celebrate Daniel’s show with songs, projects, snacks, and more.

STEM Camp will be on Friday, October 7th, and Friday, October 28th at 2:30 PM. We had quite the crowd of interested sailors as they explored water buoyancy last time. Miss Brandi has ordered all sorts of crazy science kits to learn about everything from motion to space so come join her on Fridays for some great fun.

Our second Homeschool Roundup will meet on Tuesday, October 11, at 2 PM. We will be planning some activities as well as getting to know the new homeschoolers in town. All of the Library’s programs are open to any homeschooler and all materials are provided by the Library.

Pam Polachi is going to assist us in starting a Rockhounding Group once a month at the Library. The first meeting will be on October 17th at 6 PM. If you are interested in coming, just show up that evening and help determine what types of interests and programs everyone would like to see.

The Library is also hosting a 3-D printing class for elementary-age students on Wednesday, October 19th and 26th at 3:30 PM. Students must sign up by contacting the Library at 1-406-287-3763. The class is limited to ten students so sign up early before it fills up.

The Young Adult Book Club for students, 4th -8th grade will meet on Thursday, October 13, at 3:45 PM. This month we are discussing fantasy books. Everyone picked a different book to discuss, depending on their interests and will tell everyone what they loved or hated about it. Then young patrons will select a mystery book for next month to read and share.

As always, the Library will be closed Monday, October 10th for Columbus Day. We will be open the rest of the week during regular business hours. For those of you who may not have heard, the Library is now open on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 11 AM. That gives us four more hours a week to assist our patrons with everything from technology to book searches. These new hours were made possible by the passing of the mill levy, thank you, patrons!
