Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 9/14/2022

"Mommy and Me" is off to a great start! This program for preschoolers, toddlers, babies, and their caregivers meets on Thursday mornings at 10 AM before the Library is open. Children learn all types of concepts such as colors, shapes, sharing, etc. while the adults meet upstairs to discuss budgeting, food preparation, great bargain shopping, and more. Come join us for a morning of fun and learning.

Some of you may remember the show Man and Machine from 1992. Everyone thought it was a great sci-fi show, but no one could imagine computer chips would someday be available for implanting in humans. Since the story about Tim Schober and his implant broke there has been some speculation and misinformation circulating around town. Tim will be at the Whitehall Community Library on September 19th at 6 PM to share his experience and answer any questions people might have.

The League of Women Voters will be at the Library on Tuesday, September 20th and 27th from 5:30 PM to 7 PM. helping anyone who is not registered to vote in Jefferson County to fill out their paperwork or just pick it up and fill it out at home. The League is dedicated to helping everyone eligible to vote become registered with the proper agencies. They are neutral about the election and only want to assist new voters or those who have moved or have not registered yet.

Also, on Tuesdays, Luke Forney will be leading the Lit to Flic programs at 6 PM. He is starting out with Fellowship of the Ring and will be presenting classes during the month on all aspects of the novel. This is a great chance for anyone who loves great books to come and discuss the written word versus the movie version. Copies of all the titles Luke will be discussing will be provided by the Library. If you are planning to attend, please let us know so we can have enough copies each month. Just call the Library at 287-3763.

Don't forget the presentation on teen homelessness by Diane Nilan and Pat LaMarche on September 21st at 6 PM. They are nationally known speakers and filmmakers who are dedicated to educating the public about this increasing problem.

Thank you all for being so patient with our staff and volunteers. We are down a person and have another on vacation, so things have been even more hectic than usual. I really appreciate everyone's sense of humor when the desk is backed up, the phone is ringing, programs are going on, and everyone needs a computer all at the same time. My favorite comment this past week was when one of the children told me I really needed another pair of arms, but then my sweater wouldn't fit!!
