Between the Stacks: 7/20/2022

The Friends of the Library will be meeting this Thursday at 1 PM at the Library. There is much to discuss with the summer feeding program, summer reading program, and other projects. If you would like to join the Friends in their adventures, please come and see what they are all about.

If you are tired of the heat, John Moulton is giving a cool presentation on Antarctica at 6 PM on Tuesday, July 26th. He has traveled around the world and shared his experiences in South America this spring with children after school. It will be a fun, entertaining, and educational experience for all.

This Thursday, July 21, at 2 PM, Miss Brandi will be doing STEM Camp for everyone, kindergarten and up. National Geographic put out some amazing science kits and thanks to our Friends we were able to obtain a variety of them on different subjects.

The History Book Club will be meeting on Monday, July 25th, at 6:30 PM. The members discuss books on all types of events, people, places, and historical developments. Everyone makes suggestions on topics for the next month, so the subjects are ever-changing. Come try it out if you are an amateur historian or just want to discuss your favorite historical subject.

Next week is the last day of summer reading. The eight weeks have flown by, and readers are beginning to turn in their sheets for prizes. If you have not turned in your reading sheets, please do so by the first of August. We want to make sure everyone gets their prizes before the store is packed up for the season.

Question of the week: Why won’t my card work in Montana Library2Go? The most frequent answer is that the card has expired. Many people do not realize that our library cards expire every year and must be renewed. The staff does it automatically when people come in to check out books and the expiration notice pops up but for many people who enjoy online services, they don’t realize their card is no longer valid. The easiest way to renew a card is to call the Library at 287-3763 and we will renew it on our computers right away. If you are in town, just stop in and we can renew it then. If you ever have a problem with Montana Library2Go, please call us and we are glad to assist you.
