Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Dear Editor: Speak Up Citizens of Whitehall

Dear Editor,

I went to Whitehall’s Jefferson County Candidate’s meeting on 5/26/2022. It was my first time attending a town meeting.

I had many questions, regarding the candidates but was mostly concerned about how monies were and are spent! I can’t say I got satisfactory answers. I have a right as a citizen of this wonderful town to voice my concerns!

We said the Pledge of Allegiance and believe that to be an excellent way to start a very important meeting. I was and am proud to be an American!

As a member of this community, I believe we should pay attention to who and how our county is run and how money is spent. I support the Whitehall library ballot issue as it is one of the very few things that address the needs of our children. The animal shelter ballot issue, I do not support. This will increase our taxes! I believe the money requested will increase our taxes! Money should be directed toward the future of Whitehall and helping the people and children of this area.

The town spends money for out-of-town trash pick up, which takes jobs from our people! Fix or buy a garbage truck, more if needed, rather than spend on an animal shelter.

Where is this property and who is selling it to start this animal shelter?

I want to know and my voice to be heard! It is my right and yours. Speak up citizens of Whitehall. These people work for us and that is in the Constitution.

Sandra King
