Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
I cannot believe the Summer Reading program is beginning next Monday, June 6. Everyone is welcome to come and sign up for this great time of programs, pirates, crafts, science, speakers, puppets, magic, and more. The theme this year is “Oceans of Possibilities” and I love the thought of spending the summer on the high seas. Anyone may sign up during regular library hours and the fun lasts until July 29.
We have finalized all of the arrangements for Summer Feeding. Meals will begin on June 13 instead of June 6 as we have partnered with Action, Inc. in Butte. They are going to provide free, ready-made lunches for us to hand out to any child under the age of 18 from June 13 to July 28 at the Library. We will be passing out meals from 11:30 AM to 1 PM.
It is taking many hands to do this and snacks for hungry children during the summer. I want to thank Action, Inc., the Whitehall Food Bank, Sincerely Paul, the Friends of the Library, our volunteers, and anyone else who will be working with us this summer to make it happen.
Before all the Summer Reading madness begins, Deanna Mydland from PBSKids will be here for Storytime on Friday, June 3 at 10:30 AM. She always brings a terrific variety of things to do with our youngest readers and inspires parents to interact with their youngsters at home in new and fun ways.
Next week we will kick off our first set of programs with Wednesday’s 10:30 AM spot with a special program on different kinds of rocks, rock hunting, what types of rocks there are, and how to find really cool types of rocks to collect. Rockhounding is a big pastime in Whitehall, so everyone will enjoy Settings own Pam Polachi as she takes us on a rock’n adventure.
The week will also include our first Dance Workout Night on Wednesday at 5:30 PM, the Friends meeting on Thursday at 5 PM, and Mind Aerobics at 2 PM on Tuesday.
On a very sad note, we will be losing Robin Holliday from our staff this week. She has been with the Library for over six years and is the driving force behind many of our great programs. We wish her well in her new job. She will be greatly missed by staff and patrons alike. She has promised to come by and visit so keep an eye out for her during some of our programs.
