Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

We Are HER Lounge at Ledger Office This Thursday

Last year, due to your generosity, We Are HER (Healed, Empowered, Restored), a local Whitehall non-profit that helps survivors of domestic violence or sexual assault heal after trauma, hosted its first survivor retreat.

The retreat brought in survivors from across the country who were focused on becoming healed, empowered, and restored during the four-day healing event.

The retreat week included workshops led by survivor experts from across the state of Montana. Workshops were designed to help survivors heal in a group setting and expose them to healing modalities they might not have access to on a daily basis. Workshops included intimacy after trauma led by a certified sex therapist, guided journaling, OULA (a modern dance workout inspired by yoga that was created in Missoula, MT), how to set boundaries, improv theater, and breakout talk sessions.

Last year, a survivor named Ana attended the retreat.

"The safest I have ever felt in my entire life was at the 2021 We Are HER Retreat," Ana said.

From Thursday, May 5 to Friday, May 6, We Are HER will run its biggest fundraiser of the year, raising $10,000 over the two days. $10,000 is enough to fully fund 10 first-time participants and three alumni survivors through their 2022 annual survivor retreat. Because of your generosity, We Are HER can continue to make a difference in the lives of survivors like Ana.

Here are three ways you can make a life-changing difference in the lives of these survivors:

Visit the Whitehall Ledger on Thursday, May 5, from 6 pm-8 pm to learn more about the work We Are HER does.
