Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Library will be hosting another workshop on Teen Mental Health First Aid on May 6 from 8 AM to 5 PM. This important workshop is free and open to the public who wish to help prevent suicide in our young people as well as learn the basics of mental health issues. All materials for the class will be provided for participants, as well as lunch and snacks. To sign up for the workshop or learn more about it, please contact the Library at 287-3763. The deadline for signing up is Wednesday, May 4.
On April 29, the Library will be celebrating Arbor Day with Deanna Mydland and PBSKids. Storytime will be at the usual time of 10:30 AM, then there will be special activities beginning at 1 PM. Everyone is welcome to come to join the fun.
The Wandering Wellness Scavenger Hunt will begin at 10 AM instead of 9 AM so that planners have time to organize the stations in Whitehall. In honor of Mental Health Awareness Month, the Library will be the starting place for the family scavenger hunt from 10 AM to noon on May 7. Everyone is invited to join the fun and learn about Wellness and Mental Health issues as well as earn prizes while hunting for clues around town. Participants may start any time after 10 AM at the Library and finish by noon. Clues will all be within walking distance of the Library, so enjoy a great morning of walking and fun.
This Thursday, April 28, at 7 PM, the Library will host the Rescuers/Survivors Fair with our teenagers representing a real-life survivor or rescuer from the Holocaust. This project was made possible by the Humanities Montana's Democracy Project which funded the program with a $5000 grant. Private donations were made to assist in creating a special Holocaust library section, which will be opened to the public after the project ends. The Holocaust Book Discussion Group will continue through next year and new members are always welcome.
Summer Reading is going to be a great adventure this year with oceans as the theme. We are planning STEM adventures with Robin, special visitors, and for the first time, a summer feeding program which provides lunch Monday-Thursday. Libraries around the state have become increasingly aware of the need for meals during the summer for children when the school lunch programs are not in operation. We will be needing more volunteers to help us serve lunch beginning in June. If you would like to join us, contact the Library at 287-3763.
