Moriarty Requests Your Vote For School Board

Hello, my name is Padraic (Pod) Moriarty. I am looking forward to working with the Whitehall School and attempting to get elected to the Whitehall school board.

I have lived in Whitehall for twenty-one years, have a daughter in grade school, and another in high school. While browsing through Elementary Guidance Counselor Carlie Jessop's website preparing for this commitment, I found the website to be a very informative tool for parents with children in Whitehall Schools. I highly recommend parents spend time looking at her great fun website. This is one of the issues I hope to bring to the table; parental awareness of what's offered to them.

I certainly enjoy the positive energy Mr. Koenig gives his K through 6 graders as their principal.

I am looking forward to working with our new middle/high school principal Mr. Jason Slater, who has a great deal to offer our staff and students. Welcome to Whitehall, Jason.

To all the teachers who educate our children with passion and determination - I commend you.

To our Superintendent Hannah Nieskens for her great efforts in keeping our school open and active during the COVID pandemic; I admire your courage. You are doing an awesome job.

I want to make sure we keep the arts in our schools. I sense there is not enough involvement with these very important studies such as theater/drama classes, band, chorus, and art classes: no one sits on the bench in these events - everyone plays. I sell equipment for my income and without my theater experience, I would have trouble speaking in front of an audience when promoting my wares to the public. I am still playing my fifty-year-old drum set from high school and am looking to play in a garage rock bank if anyone is looking for a drummer.

I am a great advocate of the Constitution of the United States of America and recommend our history department spend a lot of time teaching and understanding its meaning. I don't believe children today understand what freedom is, how important it is, and that it must be protected.

Science, writing, reading, and arithmetic are areas of importance that need to be taught in school, not how to use a cell phone. How did a cell phone become part of school academics?

I believe in God. I recognize the American Flag as America's symbol of democracy for which I salute it, standing up. My aim is to have every student treated equally and fairly and protect the innocent with liberty and justice for all.

If you agree with any of what I stand up for, I will work for you with your vote for me to the Whitehall School Board seat on election day, May 3, 2022.
