There was such a positive response to the Teen Mental Health First Aid Training that we are going to offer it again in May. The eight-hour training will be from 8 AM to 5 PM on Friday, May 6 at the Library. Lunch and snacks will be provided and the training is free to any adult who has contact with teenagers or children. It covers different mental health issues, how to identify them, and what to do next. There are also sections on suicide and addiction. With all of the pressures young people are under, this training is an important way to help adults feel informed and empowered. Sign up at the Library or give us a call at 287-3763.
The Friends will be meeting on April 14 at 5 PM. They are busy with plans for the Volunteer Tea to be held on April 21 at 11 AM at the Library. This recognition is for anyone who volunteers in any capacity at the Library. This includes Board members, volunteers who assist with staffing, Friends members, and more. The Library could not do all the amazing programs it holds without our wonderful assistants who give their time to us.
Mystery Book Club will be meeting on Tuesday, April 19 at 5 PM. With all of the new mystery series coming out, this will be a great time to learn about new authors, discuss favorite titles, and meet new friends. If you would like to join the book club, just come to the meeting.
The Library is in the middle of organizing a summer feeding program for anyone who needs or wants to come and have lunch with us. There are many children in Whitehall who live with food insecurity and the Library has joined with multiple partners to create a lunch program during the weeks of summer reading. If you would like to volunteer to help us for about an hour and a half this summer, please stop by. We are creating a list of people to fill all eight weeks so things run smoothly. Libraries all over the state and country have discovered that they are a great match to stop childhood hunger when school is out for the summer.
The Garden Club is celebrating Arbor Day on April 29 and the Library is helping them by hosting children's programs at the Library with Deanna Mydland and PBSKids. We are always ready to get into the dirt so this will be a great day for all!
If you have any questions about any of the Library's programs or services, just contact us in person or by phone. We are still taking students for the Mind Sharpening Classes on Thursdays at 1 PM and it is not to0 late to join.
