Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
This Friday I turn the big 4-0. Yep, four decades of rotating around the sun. And still, at 40, I sometimes forget how to spell forty. I mean, seriously, why isn’t it fourty? But...whatever.
I am more comfortable in my own skin than I ever was in my 20s and 30s...though my health could be better and I definitely weigh more than I did in either of those decades.
I enjoyed this weekend’s SuperBowl half-time show much more than most people ten years older, or ten years younger, than me - and I’m ok with that. THAT was my jam back in the day and it brought a huge smile to my face Sunday.
I’m content. I’m happy. I feel like most of the things “they” say you should accomplish by the age of 40, I have marked off my list.
A few things I know I need to work on still...maybe I can accomplish by 50?
• Letting go of some control: I want to be involved in all the things, and be a part of the decision process of all those things. Healthy? Not always.
• Walk away from toxic relationships: I’ve had a lot of these in the past...in my 40s I plan to weed out the remaining ones and live a drama-free life.
• Get more sleep: Sleep is elusive to me...I’ve done a sleep study with no answers. But I’m working on it.
• Fading my inhibitions and being less afraid of what others think: I want to be more spontaneous. I want to take crazy trips with my family and have outrageous memories made.
Fourtee....fortie....forty...whatever you are, here I come.
