The Whitehall Town Council voted to advance transportation improvement projects and sponsor the Whitehall Business Association federal grant application. The projects, part of the Community Transportation Enhancement Program (CTEP) through the Montana Department of Transportation include the Yellowstone Trail footpath, First Street Footbridge, and Legion Avenue sidewalk repair.
Snow water levels in Montana continue to break records in many areas of the state according to mountain snowpack data from the Natural Resources Conservation Service. In the Jefferson River Basin, the February 1 snowpack was at 168% of average, well above the previous record of 149% set in 1969.
Trojan Educator of the Week was Bill Barringer. After 11 years as superintendent, Mr. Barringer is retiring at the end of this school year. Mr. Barringer was selected by Mrs. Thronson to “honor his dedication to students, faculty, and the community.” Mr. Barringer and his wife Pat have three children and nine grandchildren. He enjoys photography and woodworking.
Trojan Student of the Week was Kyle Ross, a sophomore at Whitehall High School. Kyle, the son of Terry and Kathy Ross, was nominated by Mr. Breitenfeldt for work in biology class. Kyle enjoys soccer and computers and plans to attend college after high school.
Trojan Athlete of the Week was Derek Stratton, the son of John and Holly Stratton. Derek was nominated for his 44 points and 24 rebounds in weekend action against Lima and Philipsburg. Derek, a senior on the 10-5 Trojan basketball squad, plans to attend college after graduation. He likes to hunt, fish, and play basketball.
