Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
The Whitehall Trojan Wrestling team traveled north last weekend for both matches in Fairfield and to attend the Choteau Classic tournament. This tournament was attended by 40 Class B boy and girl teams from around the state.
In this competitive field, Whitehall finished in 4th place, behind Boulder, Cut Bank, and Columbus. By the time the dust had settled, the 11 Whitehall wrestlers had wrestled 76 matches.
Congratulations to Miles Hoerauf for winning the 160 lbs. weight class. He started his run by gaining 14 points against Ramos from Valier, before pinning him in the 2nd period. Next was a pin against Crowell from Cascade. His third match was a 13-3 decisive victory over Knoll of Arlee before pinning his championship opponent, Bechtold of Choteau in the second period.
Also placing was Isaac Skogen at 4th. He had wins with a pin over Minski of Cascade, and win over Courville from Plains. Kyle Denny placed 5th with wins over 2 wrestlers from Conrad and wrestlers from Cut Bank and Big Fork. Leo Scafani also placed 5th with wins over wrestlers from Fairfield, Shelby, Cut Bank, and two from Columbus. Wesley Biggers had a breakout weekend by advancing into 6th place. He collected wins over wrestlers from Sims, Conrad, Columbus, and Boulder.
Other wrestlers for Whitehall included Harley Dunn, who was able to wrestle five different opponents. Gavin Watson had wins over Conrad, St. Ignatius, Plains, and Arlee. Cody Fuller reached a new level with an overall 7-2 record with 7 pins. These were over wrestlers from Simms, Conrad, Shelby, Columbus, Deer Lodge, and Arlee. Dane Hoover earned wins over Chester and Harlem. Karson Klapan earned four wins, all by pin, against Conrad, two from Townsend, and one from Boulder. Ethan Wock finished the weekend with a pin against Deer Lodge.
This weekend the team travels to Townsend for a two-day dual tournament.
