Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
He knows everything there is to know about electrical fences...but that chapter of his life is coming to an end and a new one is about to begin.
Larry Feight, who has been working in electric fencing since 1982 and has owned High Country Ag since 1987, has sold his business. While this sounds like he might be on the path to retirement, he won't quite admit that thus far.
"I'm tired," Feight said with a laugh. "But I'm still sticking around to help train the new owner (Elliott Perfili) and keep the knowledge I have of electrical fencing in Montana."
Feight is known to know it all; for almost forty years he has made the fencing business his life and the knowledge he carries with him is priceless. He can relay stories about nearly every fence in our valley, can recall the day (and even the time) when he knew electrical fencing in the Jefferson Valley was going to work. He's trained nearly every rancher in the area on how to build and repair their fences. And now, he's ready to kick back, share his knowledge, and have a little fun.
"I'm looking forward to getting out there with my mules!" he said, beaming. At the time of this interview, Feight had just committed to offering free mule wagon rides at the Whitehall Chamber's annual Christmas Stroll, which is pictured below.
"I gotta get out there with them, work them, and work myself, so I don't get too bored!" he chuckled.
