Dear Editor: Thankful for Vets Programs

Dear Editor,

On November 10th and 11th, Cardwell and the Whitehall Schools presented the military Veterans of the surrounding area with multiple patriotic programs that were a salute to the military Veterans’ service. These patriotic presentations were incredible in their content and preparation!

The children at Cardwell School were well-rehearsed and enthusiastic in their songs and poetry! The Veterans, parents, and families that were present were treated to a typical “Panther” show! At the end of the program, all the children presented the Veterans with colorful “Thank You” cards. Go Panthers!

Whitehall Grade School started their Veterans Day program on Wednesday afternoon by hosting 5 military Veterans to a question-and-answer session centered on the Veteran’s life while in the military. These girls and boys had some really fun and astute questions for us old guys! These kids were fun to be around and awesome to interact with!

On Thursday, Whitehall’s Schools pulled off a combined Patriotic Program that was a rousing extravaganza, which featured multiple songs from the little ones (who, at the end, presented the Veterans with brilliant-colored Patriotic Stars), there were insightful readings, a PowerPoint Presentation listing the names of past and present Veterans from this area, patriotic art, and the band’s musical rendering of all the Military Branches’ Service Songs. If you weren’t there you missed these wonderful kids rising to this special occasion!

Year after year, these “Salutes to Service” for us military Veterans, are remarkable and poignant efforts as presented by the young Americans from Cardwell and Whitehall, the teachers, school staff, and volunteers! We Veterans wish to express our heartfelt thanks to all those involved. We know you too sacrificed your time and were selfless in your service to us Veterans! You’re the reason why we elected to serve!

Respectfully,

Johne Tuthill
