Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Beginning this Wednesday, October 6th, at 6:00 p.m. we will be running our next section of "Spotting Fake News." If you are interested in taking these next three sessions on discovering how to authenticate websites, track sources through lateral reading, and discover who is behind the information you are seeking, this is the class for you. Please call the library at 287-3763 to sign up.
Family Game night will be Thursday, October 7th, at 6:00 p.m. Bring your family, friends, and favorite games to come join others for a night of fun. The library will be providing snacks for everyone and games for those who do not wish to bring their own.
The library will be closed on Monday, October 11, for Columbus Day. We will be open the rest of the week during normal hours. There will be no melodrama practice or Paint by Number class that day.
For those who love Sweet Tea Tales, this month it will be on October 14. The time has changed to 6:00 p.m. so that our master bakers who attend public school may enter. This month's theme is "Pumpkins & Poetry." Select your favorite poems to share or information about a famous poet and match it with something with pumpkin as an ingredient. Everyone is invited to enter or just come and taste-test all the amazing dishes.
STEM Camp will be mystery math experiments out of unique materials on October 14th, in the spirit of Halloween. Everyone 4th grade and above is welcome to come and participate in this scientific endeavor!
The question of the week is "Where do you get all the books for the book sale?" The answer is: several places. Patrons donate used books to us, books are added as we weed the collections, businesses in town donate books, and more. The library gets first choice of all the donations, as it makes more sense for us to use donations than to pay full price for a new book, especially if it is a replacement book for one that has been lost. Often donations will add books to areas we have few resources for, such as ancient history or volumes in a mystery series. The library appreciates all donations, and they are tax deductible.
October calendars are out so stop by and pick one up to locate your favorite programs!
