Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
On Wednesday the 22nd, the North side of the Whitehall Community Center once again became the home of Screams Come True Haunted House. It also became the hang out place for volunteers of all ages for the next month.
When this venture began in my head more than five years ago, I envisioned it as a community event. Something everyone got involved with in one way or another. I saw it as a revenue event for the entire town. And so far, after two years in action, we have brought in over 4,000 people to the area each October. Whitehall really is the place to be.
On Wednesday Whitehall veterans came together to assist me in loading dozens of haunted house walls into the community center. We had six truck loads full, and when we arrived back at the community center from picking the walls up, several kids were there to assist the veterans in unloading.
On Friday we had fifteen volunteers help bolt the walls in, a bit chaotically I’ll admit because I like to change my mind despite having a diagram to follow.
On Saturday another dozen or so volunteers showed up to gather loads from our storage unit and start dressing the haunted house.
I love that this event has brought many of us together. I’m hoping this year it will bring even more people out to either help build, scare, or be scared in the house.
Thank you to everyone who has helped, is helping, or will help in the future. I appreciate you and love that you support this crazy idea of mine.
