Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Jefferson County Fair & Rodeo Next Week

The Jefferson County Fair and Rodeo, A Fair of the Heart, kicks off on August 25 and runs through Sunday, August 29. The fair features live bands and entertainment all four days. Held at the Jefferson County Recreation Park one-half mile south of Boulder, the fair and rodeo is affordable fun for the whole family.

There is free admission to the grounds and a $2 per car parking fee Saturday and Sunday. Entertainment includes displays and exhibits along with a carousel, horse events, puppet show, inflatable games, 4-H animals, a baked goods auction, and other friendly competitions.

Barrel racing and 4-H shows start things off Wednesday. The Jefferson County Rodeo Association sponsors the free Big Deal In-county Rodeo on Friday, Saturday’s Main Street rodeo parade, and the exciting fast-paced Jefferson County NRA Rodeo on Saturday and Sunday.

SonsAh406 band plays at the fair’s real barn dance on Saturday night, August 28, from 8-11 pm. This family-friendly, alcohol free event costs just $2, and is reminiscent of multi-generational country-dances of the past. Dancing the night away in the huge white barn is an experience you’re sure not to forget.

Sunday morning, August 29, is a kids’ stick horse rodeo and free kids’ treasure hunt in the straw. Person Puppets presents classic puppet shows guaranteed to delight all ages on Sunday at 12:15. Kids will enjoy a Sing-Along with Sharon afterwards.

The Fun Pianos Show is on tap at the Jefferson County Fair on Thursday, August 26, at 7:30. Featuring two pianists and plenty of good-natured competition, the live show is a guaranteed good time for people of all ages.

Leah Lewis, Jefferson County Fair Board, said, “The Fun Pianos Show is not a concert. These guys lead a musical party! There’s lots of singing along (mostly classic & current rock and country), with fun and funny surprises throughout the show. Bring your festive attitude to the Fun Pianos show, and be ready to laugh and sing and dance!”

Lewis said, “We got so many positive comments after the last show and lots of requests for bringing it back to the fair. It is hilarious…they really get the audience involved. People of all ages love it.” Reserved table seating is available and individual tickets are available for $35. Leave a message at (406) 459-0704. Proceeds are slated for the Jefferson County Fairgrounds to complete projects such as the new playground.
