Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
At the August meeting of the Community Transition Advisory Council (CTAC) on Thursday, August 12, Golden Sunlight Mine lead Chuck Buus announced a new committee to be created in order to assist GSM in allocating funds to local projects.
The Community Development Committee’s primary goals are to engage with the community, partner with community entities, invest in the community, sustain the community and adapt the committee to community changes as necessary.
The areas the committee will look to fit grant applications into are as follows: cultural heritage, environment, health, economic development, and education. Most projects should be able to fit into these general categories.
“GSM doesn’t want to stifle anything. This is committee run, not GSM run, and we want to better Whitehall as much as we can,” Buus said.
The committee is modeled after the Nevada Mines/Barrick Community Development Committee that was created earlier this year.
The next meeting of the new committee will be held immediately following the September CTAC meeting. Board assigments will be made - any and all wishing to participate in this committee are invited to attend.
