What happened to dressing up to go out on the weekend? Why are we content to head out in our dirty work clothes, sweaty and straight from our jobs, skipping the clean up and fresh duds? I am as guilty as anyone!

Dear Sloppy,

Wait! Are you telling me that body odor and pajama bottoms as part of one’s evening attire is “sloppy?!” What about Crocs with sweatpants, Scooby Doo T-shirt and a baseball hat that looks like it has been through a stampede? People may not dress up like they used to, but we are freer to be ourselves. We are more equal as men and women than we used to be. We may need to start a new trend and begin to dress up a bit. I’m in if you are.

Dear Jo,

I am a nurse. I am seeing COVID rear its ugly head again. COVID is bad, that is obvious. But, even more disturbing, is the anger and animosity I see happening between each other. I believe in the freedom of each of us to make the best choice for ourselves. Some people believe COVID is just fake, not real. I know first-hand it is real. So, if I can respect people’s rights to not have the vaccine, why can’t people accept my right to have it? I have made the best informed decision for myself. Both sides are so angry at each other instead of acknowledging that we live in a free country where we are allowed to live in a way we choose. Just had to get that out there.

Hate weary

Dear Weary,

I usually try to put a fun spin on subjects that are written in. This, however, is one that hits close to home. I think it does for everyone. The only advice I have for someone who is in on the front line of the problem is to do your best to educate people and live your own life. I would ask everyone, no matter their personal beliefs, to treat people with kindness and respect.

We are each coming at our lives from unique upbringings, beliefs, and experiences. It does no good to spread fear and hate. I truly believe it is vitally important to lift up the people around you, to just care. I will be keeping you in my thoughts.
