Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
National, regional, and state experts in school safety headline a Montana statewide Safe Schools Summit in Butte on August 17th and 18th, 2021 to discuss and advance best practices for student and educator safety and creating safe school environments. Designed for school safety teams, educators, school nurses, mental health professionals, law enforcement, and emergency and disaster preparedness coordinators, the Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit has a theme of School Safety – Post Covid Re-group and Re-energize.
“Over the past year, educators have had to change the way they operate schools in order to improve our ability to keep all students safe and secure,” says Judy Jonart, Superintendent of Butte Public Schools. “The Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit continues to provide ongoing and consistent professional development opportunities that educators can use to develop the essential skills and procedures needed to sustain safe and secure learning environments in an ever-changing world.”
This conference is held in conjunction with, and through the support of the Jeremy Bullock Safe Schools Summit Planning Committee, Jeremy Bullock Trust and Bullock Families, Montana Office of Public Instruction, Butte School District No. 1, Montana School Safety Advisory Committee, University of Montana Safe Schools Center, and the Butte Police Department.
“This year’s Summit comes at a time in our history when we all have experienced common difficulties and hardships,” says Robin and Bill Bullock, Jeremy’s parents. “We all need space and resources to prepare and be successful for the upcoming school year. We, along with a dedicated group of family, friends and experts, are proud to present the latest research, trends and programs to support student and staff safety.”
The Safe Schools Summit, which was also held in 2019, has been established in memory of Jeremy Bullock and his tragic death at the Margaret Leary Elementary School in Butte on April 12, 1994. The event will take place at the Copper King Convention Center and Hotel.
