Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Beth Ann Halvorsen, 57

On July 28, 2021, Beth Ann (Choquette) Halvorsen left this world exactly how she lived it: fighting fiercely, courageously, and surrounded by love; but far too young.

Beth was born on September 28, 1963 in Butte, Montana. She grew up in Whitehall, Montana with her parents, Richard and Karen Choquette, and siblings Todd, Shera, Lori, and Brittany. While in high school, she met her first love, Mike Ward. They quickly married and gave birth to their first of three daughters, Amber. Their second daughter, Lacey, came a year later, and the four of them headed to Washington, where their third daughter, Brianne, completed the family. Beth's time in Washington brought adventures of travel, lake life, softball, and neighborhood gatherings. Washington is also where she passed on to her daughters her passion for horseback riding and her fearless mentality, as she refused to buy them a saddle until they learned to ride without one. After more than a decade on the west coast, the family moved back to their roots in Whitehall, where Beth continued to raise her daughters, spend time with her parents, ride her horses, and let loose with her friends on the softball field. Beth and Mike eventually parted ways but remained friends and partners in parenting.

Beth married William Halvorsen a few years later. They found joy living on the river, taking drives through the mountains, and the occasional banter when the Seahawks played the Broncos.

The people who know Beth the most would describe her as "the toughest woman they know". Beth was a fierce and loyal protector of the people she loved. There was absolutely nothing she wouldn't do to help someone in need, even if it was a detriment to herself. What you saw is what you got with Beth, and she made no apologies for it...AND she didn't need to.

The people who love Beth the most would describe her as "Grandma". Beth was born to be a grandma, and she was blessed to be given the title 9 times from her grandchildren Conner, Riley, Avery, Caden, Taya, Mayes, Drew, Tanyon, and Toston. She never missed a moment to spoil them on holidays, cheer them on in their activities, go get them whenever they wanted to see her, and she ALWAYS kept her purse full of treats "just in case". The love she radiated on to them will, without a doubt, be remembered and cherished forever.

After a long, hard fought battle with cancer, Beth went home to be with one of her most favorite people, Grandma Betty. Her husband, Willy, went to be with her after fighting his own life battle as well.

Mom, your kindness and strength will be missed, but we see it everyday in the eyes of your grandchildren, and we are forever grateful to you for leaving that to them.

A private service will take place for friends and family on August 22nd. In lieu of flowers, please take time to make a donation to the charity of your choice.
