If you are hiding from the heat, stop by the Library and grab a sack of books from the book sale. This is the time when staff weeds the collection to make room for new books, so there are lots of new things to choose from. If you are weeding your own collection, remember that the Library takes donations of all types (just no VHS tapes or cassettes). The money from the book sale goes to the Friends so they may support the many projects and programs which happen at the Library during the year.
New books are arriving every day including some of my favorite authors. Laurie R. King takes on another Mary Russell and Sherlock Holmes mystery in "Castle Shade". This latest installment in the series takes on royalty, murder, and an ancient Romanian castle. Jennifer Chiaverini fans will enjoy exploring the 1913 Woman's Suffrage Procession in her newest historical novel "The Women's March".
Biographer Walter Isaacson has just released the compelling story of Jennifer Doudna. The book, "The Code Breaker" is the story of Nobel Prize winner Doudna and her research into the editing of DNA and the creation of CRISPER.
"The Last Night in London" by Karen White is the story of two women during the London Blitz and the present-day, exploring friendship, betrayal, and kindness during the Second World War. T. J. Newman has created a new thriller that will keep you on edge. "Falling" is the story of a flight bound for destruction when the pilot's family is kidnapped, and the price of their release is for him to crash the plane. Jake Tapper takes on a different type of mystery in "The Devil May Dance" about two people who are sent by Robert Kennedy to investigate the mob in Hollywood during the 1960's.
"No Way Out" is Fern Michaels' new story of a young woman who awakes from a coma with almost no memory of what happened. The sudden reappearance of a man who disappeared could be the answer to her questions... or not.
For these and other great books, check out our new bookshelf and spend the day with a good book! Remember, we are honoring summer reading sheets until the 20th of August. If you have completed your sheet, just bring it in!
