Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 7/28/2021

What a wonderful Frontier Days! Thank you to everyone who made it possible. At the Library, the book sale was going full force as people were hauling out bags full of books for a dollar a bag. Thank you, Friends, for manning the sale while staff was busy with 40 little ones at Read & Feed.

By the time you read this the Summer Reading program will have ended at the Library, but I wanted everyone to know that we are still honoring reading sheets which may be turned in through August 20. There are plenty of prizes left and we want all our readers to come and claim their reward for a summer of reading. Just bring your sheet to the front desk and we will make sure everyone gets their free meal at Subway, swim passes, and a chance to attend the store.

August is our recovery month after all the programs we hold during Summer Reading. Storytime will continue as will the book clubs, Paint-By Number, and Free Painting. Staff is busy finishing the schedule for fall and it is a full one. In September, we will be starting Watercolor lessons, the Holocaust Project, Reader's Theater, Art Camp, Family Game Night, Spotting Fake News classes, and the first presentations for our new Entrepreneurial Resource Center. It will be a busy fall for everyone.

Teens wanting to be a part of the Holocaust Project need to contact the library ASAP, as we only have five spaces left. If you would like more information, just stop by the front desk, or call us at 287-3763.

This summer we had several groups of young people come in who enjoyed using our board games to beat the heat. They had so much fun that we are beginning a Family Game Night once a month, starting in September. Families will be able to come and enjoy snacks, games, and making new acquaintances, while spending time with friends and family

You may have noticed all the new shelving in the book sale area. Thank you to Jarrin Cheuvront and sons for moving and fixing the shelves downstairs so we could dispose of all the smaller sale shelves. It really opened the basement area for our programs, as well as making it much easier for shoppers to find their favorite authors.

If you haven't seen all the great bags, shirts, and aprons the Friends are selling, you can see them on display at the Library. A.J. Latta's logo has translated beautifully onto all types of publications, fabric, and stationary. We are excited to paint the Library later this year using the new colors of our logo.

If you have any questions about present or future programs, please give us a call at 287-3763.
