Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
David Joseph Klem, 79, of Belgrade passed away Friday, June 11, 2021. He was born September 8, 1942, in Jacksonville, Illinois to Albert and Mary (Gilbert) Underwood. When he was a senior in high school, the family moved to Boulder City, Nevada. He then attended University of Nevada, Las Vegas, where he received a bachelor's degree in business. From 1959 to 1965, David served in the Naval Reserves, and for three of those years (1960 to 1963) was called to active duty with the United States Navy.
On August 7, 1965, he married Marjorie Jean Uehling and the couple had three children, David, Kristine, and Karen.
David worked for the US Department of Reclamation as an electrician at the Hoover Dam from 1963 to 1966, before working in management for AT&T until 1990. He then spent ten years as a private consultant and an additional ten at University of California, Davis, retiring in 2010.
He was active in church activities, serving as both Deacon and Bible Study teacher. David developed a passion for writing, as evidenced in the way he continued to work on his fourth book of The Resurrection Chronicles Series (three of which have been published) even in the final weeks of his life. He also loved woodworking, the outdoors - particularly four-wheeling – and traveling.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Albert and Mary.
Survivors include his wife, Marjorie Klem; children, David Victor (Shannon) Klem, Kristine Marie (Jeffrey) Claassen, and Karen Lanae (Lance) Reese; 14 grandchildren; and 10 great-grandchildren with 3 more on the way.
Interment has taken place at South Boulder Cemetery in Cardwell, Montana. A memorial service will be held at 3PM on July 7th at the Cardwell Community Church, 795 HWY 359, Cardwell, MT.
