Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks: 6/16/2021

Summer is a great time for hiking in Montana and this month we continue our hiking series with Vaia Errett on Wednesday, June 16th at 6:30 p.m. She will be sharing her hiking adventures around Jefferson County as well as providing information on the most interesting hikes close to home. Next week Vanne Mocilac explores the joys of long-term deep woods hiking in the Northwest.

STEM Camp returns this Thursday, June 17th at 2:30 p.m. Robin will be discovering the physics of boats and how they float. This program is open to elementary and older children who enjoy science and engineering experiments.

STEM Camp is alternating with Art Camp this summer on Thursdays at 2:30 p.m. Everyone is welcome next week to come and create a project using different media to enjoy their artistic side. The Library supplies all materials needed for programs so participants may just show up and have fun.

Next week is the program everyone has been waiting for, Markie Scholz will be here with her puppets at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 23. The puppet show is based on our summer reading theme of "Tails and Tales" and will be sure to delight everyone of all ages.

You may have noticed the beautiful landscaping which is going in the front of the Library. We have the Friends to thank for purchasing the flora and Ruby Anderson for the lovely installation job she did last week. The big hole is for the base which will house the new bench outside. Roger and Lorie Steerman, along with Robin, were digging on Friday so it is ready to form and pour the cement. It will be nice to have a quiet place to sit in the shade for those who walk around town or patrons who want a place to sit and be still for a moment.

Question of the week: When will the Xbox and Play Station be open again? The simple answer is when we get a different set up for washing books set up. All materials returned to the Library are still being sanitized upon return, this includes things we receive through inter-library loan. With cases being higher in larger areas it is important to us that the things we send home with patrons have been cleaned to the best of our ability. It takes space to wash and dry items but there is a plan to get everything moved around by July.
