Congratulations to A. J. Latta, winner of the Friends of the Library logo contest. He was awarded the $100 first prize. His logo, which features the Whitehall mountain landscape, will be on just about everything having to do with the library.

Do not forget the library will be closed for Memorial Day on Monday, May 31. Regular hours apply during the rest of the week.

Summer Reading registration is open and the programs begin next week. The weekly calendar will basically be the same with special programs changing every week. The Friends of the Library meet on the third Thursday of the month at 5:15 p.m. If you would like to be involved with the Friends just plan to attend the meeting on June 17th and they will introduce you to all the amazing things they do.

STEM and ART classes begin on June 17th at 2:30 p.m. and will alternate every week. Our new Maker Space time on Fridays will begin on June 4th at 2:00 p.m. and is an open creative time for children and tweeners to come and paint, draw, build, explore science ideas, and more. Preschoolers are welcome if they are accompanied by an adult during the hour.

Wednesday evenings are for discovering new opportunities. Starting June 9th at 6:30 the Library will be hosting a series of programs on outdoor hiking. The series will cover safety (including making small survival kits), the trails in Jefferson County, deep hiking in the Pacific Northwest, and what to look for when you are on the trail. All programs are free and open to the public.

Calendars are out and available at the front desk. If you have questions about the Summer Reading program, just give us a call at 287-3763 or stop by. Tails & Tales is the theme this year and everyone, no matter what age you are, is eligible to join. Prizes will be given out three times during the summer.
