One of the signs of spring is when our Tuesday night Watercolor Class turns from an actual class to free painting. The Library provides the paper, watercolors, brushes, and other supplies but the class is open to everyone as a free paint. So, come join the fun at 6:00 p.m. every Tuesday night and let your creativity flow!
Kyle Joyner will be presenting a program on Telehealth on Tuesday, May 18th at 1:30 p.m. in the basement. This will include the mechanics of doing a teleconference over a computer (which buttons to push, how to log in, etc.) as well as an information section on the new mental health services available in Whitehall.
Mystery Book Club also meets on May 18th at 5:00 p.m. We will be discussing the new mysteries available at the Library and what everyone has been reading. If you are a mystery fan, this is the group for you.
The Friends will be having their monthly meeting on Thursday, May 20th at 5:15 p.m. They will be exploring what they can do for Summer Reading, finishing up the bench preparation, making plans to launch the new logo, and discussing upcoming events. If you would like to attend, please come, and check it out. The Friends do a tremendous amount in the way of assisting the Library in a multitude of areas throughout the year.
The History Book Club will be meeting early this month on Monday, May 24, at 6:30 p.m. Their regular meeting date is Memorial Day this year so the Library will be closed. We are reading "The Warmth of Other Suns" about the great migration which took place in the United States after the Civil War. Written by Pulitzer Prize-winning author Isabel Wilkerson, the book tells the story of the decade's long migration of black citizens to seek a better life in the northern and western cities of America.
New children's books are pouring into the Library for Summer Reading. I want to thank the Whitehall School District again for the funding assistance in supporting our early literacy efforts in reaching babies, toddlers, preschoolers, and elementary students to be life-long readers.
Speaking of our littlest readers, Storytime will continue on Fridays at 9:30 a.m. This special time includes music, stories, crafts, special programs with PBSKids, and more. The program is for children under the age of six and is always a great time.
