Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
An exciting off-road motorcycle event is happening this weekend at Pipestone! The Mossy Rock Trials will begin at 10am with classes including novice, amateur, intermediate, advanced, expert & vintage, and pro.
The trials, which are not speed or time related, but balanced driven, are unique, said course director Dan Larson. Competitors are given points for each time their foot touches the ground - in that a perfect score would be 0 for the run, and a fail would be a score of 5+. The all natural terrain creates its own obstacles, which are within a one mile hiking loop of each other, making for an exciting spectator event. Obstacles are ribboned off and spectators are asked to not cross into these zones. The trials are also only accessible by foot; organizers ask that no ATVs or vehicles access these areas, except competitors.
"I've had people come to the event and be amazed, saying that it totally exceeded their expectations and is something so different," Larson said.
This weekend's two day event is part of a 7 day total accumulation of points, with the remaining 5 days happening at different locations throughout Montana. These trials lead up to the Montana Championship event.
"This is a low key, low stress event," Larson said, adding the competitors can enter the trials on site at the event on Saturday, or by calling him at 406-930-0227. The event is expecting a great competitor turnout and is hoping for lots of spectators as well to cheer the participants, and their balancing act skills, on!
DIRECTIONS to the event: Take Exit 241 from I-90 (Pipestone exit), go Southeast on Pipestone Road about 0.8 miles, then right (SW) on Hot Springs Road about 1 mile, then right to Trials Site. Watch for red and blue ribbon when close; about 1.5 miles from I-90 to the parking area.
