Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Dear Editor,
This letter is in response to an article written by you in your newspaper regarding “all the big trucks speeding down past your office.” I am a wife of a truck driver. You have no idea how many hours and miles a truck driver drives so that you can have a lot of the necessities that you require in life. They are some of the ones that worked non-stop during the COVID pandemic so that everyone had what they needed to live. They were not working from home, they were out in the public working every day and night to deliver products to hospitals, clinics, stores, etc. So if your pictures fall off your walls from the vibration of the trucks going past your office every day, find some product to use so that they don’t. Don’t bad mouth the people out there working every day to make ends meet and deliver the products. They are not the ones staying at home and getting unemployment or government assistance day after day.
And as for feeling great about pulling out in front of a large moving truck, that is just pure stupidity!! Do you realize how much these trucks weigh if they are loaded?
I would imagine that you don’t. And what happens if you pull out if front of one that is loaded and they cannot stop? Do you want to take the chance of getting hit and killed just because you think it’s funny to pull out in front of one? And how do you think the trucker would feel if he couldn’t stop and hit and killed you?
And last and foremost, I don’t think that as a newspaper owner that you can afford to piss off the truckers here in town. This is a small town and people need their jobs and love their jobs even if they are just a “truck driver.” You should really stop and think about what you write when you live in such a great town like Whitehall. This affects an awful lot of people here.
I USED TO THINK THAT YOU WERE DOING A GREAT JOB WITH THE NEWSPAPER, BUT AFTER THAT ARTICLE, I CHANGED MY MIND. GROW UP AND QUIT BAD MOUTHING PEOPLE WORKING A LIVING BEING A TRUCK DRIVER. MAYBE YOU SHOULD TAKE A TRIP WITH ONE AND SEE WHAT IT TAKES TO BE ONE!!!
Signed, Wife of a Truck Driver and damn proud of it.
