Over a hundred children ages 0-6 participated in the Whitehall Chamber's Easter Eggs-travaganza Egg Hunt on the Main Street Green this past Saturday. Participants found hundreds of eggs scattered throughout the park, as well as loose prizes.
The Easter Bunny made his rounds before the hunt began delighting (and sometimes scaring) the little ones as they waited for the signal to start gathering.
After the hunt parents brought their little ones to sit on the Easter Bunny's lap and get a photo taken by the Whitehall Ledger and the Chamber. Parents, if you have not received your child's photo via email, please contact the Whitehall Ledger at 287-5301 as there were several photos we were unable to match to email addresses.
After the excitement of the egg hunt died down the excitement of the Easter Scavenger Hunt began! Twenty-two businesses hosted letters on their storefronts and participants had to solve the riddle pertaining to the business, go to the business, write down the letter there, and then decode into a "Happy Easter, Whitehall" message to be entered into the grand prize drawing of a Nintendo Switch and Mario Kart game.
Thank you to the following businesses for hosting letters: Subway, Western Vet, Two Bit, Settings, A&W/KFC, Thriftway, Full Circle, Stageline Pizza, Whitehall Ledger, ACE, Tona's Treasures, K-Bar, Star Theatre, Cottage Floral, Pepper Tree Deli, Cliff's Auto, Bluebird Coffee, Sweet Things, and Speckled Hen, Generations Salon, Frankie's, and Jefferson IGA.
Eighty-five children ages 7-99 participated in the Scavenger Hunt. Prizes were awarded to all participants, which included Star Theatre tickets, caverns tours, Subway gift cards, amazing items from Settings, candy, Whitehall Chamber Bucks and more.
On Monday, the Easter Bunny drew two names from their basket - Josh Lewis, age 10, won a Easter Basket filled with gift certificates; Remi Jorgensen, age 12, was drawn from the basket as the winner of the Nintendo Switch package!
