Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Dear Editor,
This is in response to Jim Buterbaugh’s letter from the February 3, 2021 Ledger issue.
Glad to hear that you can’t forgive a mob attacking our Capitol with the intention of overturning an election and threatening to kill political leaders. Also known as an attempted coup. This was not a “group of Americans” who got carried away emotionally in the moment. They came armed with guns, bombs, hockey sticks, pepper spray, zip ties, and a noose. They killed a police officer; chanted “Hang Mike Pence”.
Why? Because they lost the election. An election certified by all 50 Secretaries of State. Eight-six lawsuits were filed and lost contesting the election. No evidence of election fraud has been produced.
The Speaker of the House was justified in being concerned about the safety of House members. A Georgia House member openly advocated for the execution of political leaders and federal agents. This member openly carries a firearm.
BLM and Antifa are being held accountable. Thousands have been arrested. Violence in any form is unacceptable.
The rhetoric on the executive orders was a little vague. All former Presidents have used executive orders. (George Washington signed 8). Most of the recent executive orders were related to fighting COVID.
I don’t think we can have unity in this country until those spewing the rhetoric are held accountable.
