Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
One of the really great things about working in the Library is the chance to meet so many new residents in Whitehall. We have had people from all over the country coming to Montana and bringing their talents and willingness to share their skills with the Library. I am currently working with one such person in creating a music and movement class for toddlers and preschoolers after Storytime on Fridays. This would be a terrific program to teach younger children about music and how many fun ways there are to move to music! Watch for more details.
Our back room is stacked with new books and movies waiting to be processed this week. Thanks to our volunteers they are being processed in a timely manner. Many people do not realize all of the steps it takes to get a book from order to shelf ready. This is a busy time for the publishing industry and many new titles are coming out by blockbuster authors. Our staff all has input into the ordering process, but if there is a series, movie, or new title you would like added to the collection just let us know. The budget doesn’t allow for us to buy every title but we try to keep up on all of the most popular selections. If you would like to volunteer at the Library, stop by and talk to us. We can always use more help!
The Summer Reading theme this year is “Tails and Tales”. The staff is planning to do programming in-house or, in many cases, outside in the backyard. They will be presented multiple times in order to keep everyone safe while still having a great experience.
Summer is a ways off so don’t forget to pick up your winter reading sheet. We want to keep everyone involved in a great book during the winter months and earn a lunch at Subway along the way. The program is open to anyone and will run until the end of March.
If you have any questions about Library programming or ideas for new programs, please stop by the front desk or give us a call at 287-3763. Every idea has merit and sometimes we are able to adapt things around to multiple audiences. With many of the traveling speakers and performers unable to come and do their regular programs, we are looking increasingly at local resources. If you know someone who has an interesting hobby, has traveled and would like to share their experience, or has a unique talent they would like to share, please let us know.
