John F. Patsey

Patsey, John F.

06/10/1941 - 12/11/2020

Born in Denver, CO to Francis (Pat) Patsey and Ursula Patsey (Wagner).

John was raised in east Denver and graduated from Regis High School. He retired from Xcel energy after 37 years.

John served in Vietnam in 1968-69 with the Colorado Air National Guard. He was an adventurer and mountaineer, summiting 54 of Colorado's 14'ers as well as Pico de Orizaba in Mexico. John raced the Baja 1000 in Mexico, flew airplanes, and drove fast Fords across the country. He was a lover of big roller coasters, fireworks, and telling tall tales.

For years he operated "John Patsey's Colorado Christmas Trees" in Denver. Later he started the Boulder Creek Tree Farm.

Later in life, John relocated to Wolf Creek, MT where he served as a volunteer firefighter and then to Whitehall, MT.

During his time in Whitehall he was loved by his extended family, the Wagner's, and especially proud of and generous toward what he called his "Free Range" nieces and nephews. He was cared for at the end of his life by Linda and Don Wagner, their daughter Tammy, and others in the family.

John is survived by his brothers Jim, Tom (Linda), Dan (Nancy) and nephews: Chris, John, Josh, and Ben.

The family will hold a private service.
