Harold Lee Smith, 77, of Whitehall, died on Saturday, December 5, 2020 in Bozeman.
He was born at the old hospital in Whitehall on November 23, 1943 to Virgil and Hazel Smith. Harold grew up on and worked the family ranch in Twin Bridges until he graduated from Twin Bridges Highschool and moved to Havre, MT to attend college.
After college Harold became a heavy equipment operator for the Anaconda Mining Company in Butte and later for the Golden Sunlight Mine in Whitehall and worked there up until his retirement.
Harold had a quiet demeanor and will be fondly remembered for his giving personality. He loved the outdoors; enjoyed fishing, camping, boating, and spending time with all of his many family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Marlene Smith of Whitehall; a daughter, Jennifer “Josie” (Brand) Sacry of Bozeman and their children Jordan, Kenedy, Cobe and Judah; a son Brian (Shiloh) Smith of Belgrade and their children Micah, Levi, Noah, Naomi, Elijah and Isaiah and a sister, Becky Donaldson of Billings. Harold is preceded in death by his daughter Courtney Smith and his parents.
A celebration of life will be held in the spring and donations are suggested to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or Food and Personal Care of the Gallatin Valley @ C3 Church, 310 Laura Louise Lane, Bozeman, MT 59718.
