Plenty of positives at 2020 Madison County Fair

While it may have been a little different from those in past, there was still plenty to smile about at the recent Madison County Fair in Twin Bridges.

According to Mikayla Hudson, 4-H & Youth Development Extension Agent for Madison and Jefferson County, it was an amazing experience to see so many smiling faces excited to see their friends.

4-H organizers were able to include most of their schedule this year with all shows taking place in person but did reorganize to shorten the week and switching of some of the showtimes. Hudson added they also moved locations to allow for more spacing of the 4-H and FFA participants, families, volunteers, and spectators.

"Being able to provide a social outlet for not only the youth but for families, in general was also very important and makes me very glad that we were able to put on the 2020 4-H and FFA shows and sale," she said.

In her first year as a member of the Madison and Jefferson County communities, Hudson said it was a very challenging year, but is proud and impressed with everyone who helped make the fair a success.

"Everyone had to make sacrifices from the youth to the adults and I am very excited about what the future holds for these incredibly strong communities," she said.

GOLDEN SUNLIGHT MINE

Hudson also praised the Barrick Golden Sunlight Mine for donating masks to the 2020 Madison County Fair.

It was very important that we had masks at the fair, part of the success of being able to put on our shows was having the ability to provide masks to anyone who would need or like to have a mask. I'd like to extend a huge thank you to Golden Sunlight Mine for their support of the Madison/Jefferson 4-H program during this difficult time," she said.
