Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
"This is for the ambulance folks, right? Keep the change." At Saturday's yard sale for the ambulance service, those words were said repeatedly. The five-hour yard sale earned over $400 and reaffirmed the support the local community has for the excellent work that is provided by the ambulance crew. Donations for the sale came in all morning, and business was brisk. The next yard sale event to benefit the ambulance service will be September 12th from 9:30-1:30. If you have items that you would like to donate for the sale, please bring them to 12 North B Street from 5-7pm on Friday, September 11th.
At last Monday's PULSE meeting, Whitehall residents Rita and Chloe Brown presented a thank-you card and $610 that they earned through mask sales to the organization as a way of doing their part to support the ambulance service's efforts. The homemade cotton masks in upbeat printed fabrics have added nose-bridge strips so that the masks can be shaped to faces more comfortably, particularly for glasses-wearers. Remaining masks are on sale in the Whitehall Liquor Store/Pawn Shop, with proceeds going to PULSE. The Browns will continue to contribute to the ambulance coffers by making and selling a variety of things in booths at local events for the foreseeable future.
PULSE, JVEMSR, JVRAD. The acronyms can be daunting, but in short, these three organizations work together to ensure high quality ambulance service for the residents in the southern half of Jefferson County and surrounding areas. True, the Town of Whitehall is not in the year-old ambulance district (nor are Madison and Silverbow Counties), but everyone, in-district or not, benefits from having a strong emergency medical services team in the area. This past week, the appreciation that this community feels for the ambulance crew's many hours of volunteer work, training, and lack of sleep was heard loud and clear.
If you would like to volunteer to work with the ambulance crew, email jvemsr@gmail.com. A basic EMT class is beginning soon, and more people to cover ambulance shifts are always needed.
