Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Between the Stacks

This week we will have two great PBS programs! Wednesday, August 26th at 10:30 a.m. Deanna Mydland will be here to do a special Story Time with all her wonderful PBS centers. On Thursday, August 27th, she will be back to do Odd Squad Math camps at 1:30 p.m. and 3:00 p.m. Families are invited to come play games and explore the wonderful world of mathematics and how different types of math work in the real world.

The first two weeks of September are going to be slow for us. We are welcoming a new staff member, Sara Cheuvront. You may recognize her from STEM camp and painting. She will be starting soon, and we can't wait to put her musical and artistic talent to work.

I am finishing the September calendar and it loaded with different types of programs. Because we are still under the 50-person rule, I am asking parents to sign up their children for our afterschool programs. To make room for more children, we are running separate art classes for homeschool children at 1:00 p.m. and then afterschool art classes at 3:30 p.m.

On Tuesdays there will be Coding class for those 4th grade and up and Music for Kindergarten-3rd graders at 3:30 p.m. Sweet Tea Tales will resume on September 17th at 1:30 p.m. so get your baking skills honed.

September will also see the beginning of "Fun Foods". This is a cooking class for Kindergarten through 8th grade to teach children how to make nutritious snacks while they are home. There are many things children can put in the microwave besides processed foods. This class seeks to lead them to snacks or meals which are vitamin packed and great tasting!

Mark your calendar for Saturday, September 19th at 10:00 p.m. for Emily Dickerson and "Taking Photographs in Nature: The Winning Shot". She will be sharing tips on the best way to take great photographs while hiking, exploring, or just walking out in the wild. Emily will be doing several great programs for us in September so watch for more!

October will see the return of several of your favorite programs: Watercolor classes, STEM camp, ukulele lessons, Pokemon Club, and more. All programs will abide by social distancing rules and the county mandate to wear masks. Our goal is to provide terrific programs but keep all our patrons safe!
