Chamber Hosting August 19 event

After hosting the annual Frontier Days celebration in July, the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce is moving forward with plans for the Fall Festival. They are also hosting a special "Hot Summer Nights event Wednesday, August 19.

Chamber President John Kreis said "Hot Summer Nights" would be similar to take out night events this summer but would be a little bit larger with music in the park and vendors. The event is scheduled to start at 4 p.m. and will feature music from local band KneeJürk!

The Fall Festival is slated for Saturday, October 24 with a variety of activities planned. At the August chamber Board meeting, member Jill Dove said they would be submitting a health plan to the Jefferson County Health Department.

Fall Festival Chair Melissa Jenkins is excited to be moving forward with the event while at the same time keeping safety in mind.

"While there certainly were some anxious moments with Frontier Days, I feel the Chamber did a great job with the event and the Fall Festival should be more of the same. It will be a great way to get out into the community, while at the same time practicing social distancing," he said.

As far as Frontier Days, Kreis said it was successful, although a smaller version than those in the past. He added he was really glad the chamber hosted the event and thanked all the board members and volunteers who pitched in.

Chamber Member Tom Harrington said prior to Frontier Day's he was in the middle of the road in regard to the event moving forward but lauded the chamber board for having a serious discussion.

"I think you owe yourself a pat on the back," he said.
