Town officials pleased with results of chip seal project

Whitehall Town officials are pleased with the result of the recent chip sealing project completed by HardDrives Inc.

At a Council meeting Monday, Whitehall Public Works Director Kory Klapan told the governing body the chip seal looks wonderful compared to when the company did the project in 2017 and that it should work out well. Mayor Mary Janacaro Hensleigh said both the recently completed MDT sidewalk and the chip seal project both turned out well.

HardDrives Inc. had originally provided a chip seal service in 2017. In 2019, the town reached a settlement with the company re-chip seal the full length and width of First, Division, and Main Streets.

In her report to the Council, Clerk/Treasurer Sumer Fellows said she's received numerous complaints in regard to parking in the area of the Two Bit, Library, and Medical Clinic, adding maybe the town can start figuring out something to do with the situation.

In his report, Klapan said public works changed or fixed 12 curb stops along Legion Avenue. He added he has been in contact with the contractor for the MDT sidewalk project and they will be in town in the next couple of weeks to paint the corners of the sidewalks.

It was also reported pool donations are now over $11,000 and the last day of the season will be August 15.
