Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
In conjunction with the USDA Convoy of Hope and Farmers to Families Food Box program, several area churches, and Love Inc. of the Greater Whitehall Area will next week be providing free pork and chicken to local residents.
According to Whitehall Assembly of God Pastor Bill Lanes, the food will be handed out on August 6 and 7 starting at 1 p.m. in Legion Park.
Lanes said he was extremely excited to be contacted by Convoy of Hope and they will be providing an entire semi full of food that will be available to ALL local residents.
He was also happy that the local churches and Love Inc. could join forces to help out local residents.
"It's not about us, it is about giving back," he said.
Kevin Brunet is providing a refrigerated truck to store the food, and Lanes said they will be providing a couple of boxes to everyone who shows up with no income or other information needed.
Lanes is hopeful they can give away the food all in the first day and wants to secure about 20 volunteers to help out, adding masks will be provided.
He also thanked the USDA program for purchasing the food that would have been destroyed.
"This is a great opportunity for Whitehall," he said.
