Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
This evening the Whitehall Chamber of Commerce will honor Whitehall Eighth Graders with a special event scheduled for Legion Park. This event is just one of the many recent hosted by the chamber in an effort to not only honor local students but to also help local small businesses.
A very dedicated board of directors is making a difference during a time when they are needed the most and they are doing a fantastic job.
With the economic downturn caused by the COVID-19 pandemic, events like "Rally for Retail" and "Take Out Night" have been a way to get people into local businesses. It is always important, but it is needed now more than ever. Even if it is just a few more people into a business it can make a world of difference.
With on-site instruction shut down for the school year, the senior cruise night last week and the eighth-grade event is something special for the kids. It is another way to honor a group of kids who didn't ask for this to happen and have had what should be a special year turn into a difficult challenge.
We also applaud the Chamber for moving cautiously moving forward with Frontier Days. As of right now, it is unknown when the state of Montana will move into Phase 3 of reopening, but organizers are still working hard on planning what has become such an important event in Whitehall.
Hopefully, things will be a little closer to normal in the next few months and Frontier Days can be a way to bring people together as well as bringing a much-needed shot in the arm to the local economy.
