Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Dahle (Christensen) Briggs

Dahle (Christensen) Briggs of Whitehall, passed away the same way she lived her life, peacefully and surrounded by family on Saturday March 21, 2020 at the age of 84. She was preceded in death by her husband Don Briggs. Dahle was born on October 10, 1935 to Clifford and Afton Christensen in Rock Springs, WY. She was raised in Manila, UT, where she loved to jump rope, and make up plays with her five sisters. While growing up, Don's cousins would pull her braids on the school bus; she swore she would never marry, "One of those Briggs boys." When she was 17 that all changed when she married Don, shortly after he returned from Korea. For 71 years she was loyal to one man. After coming to Montana a few times to work on family ranches, the Big Sky Country got under their skin and they made Montana their home in 1966. She was a prominent member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints, where she had a strong testimony of the gospel of Jesus Christ, and found comfort in knowing families can be together forever. She leaves behind a legacy of faith and family, Dahle has 9 children, 29 grandchildren, 40 great grandchildren. She created a home where grandkids could run through the kitchen door, go to the cookie jar for a ginger cookie, or hot meal magically prepared with no prior notice. Her donuts and cinnamon rolls were a local legend. Music was an integral part of the life she weaved. She had the voice of an angel, and was never afraid to share her talent. God gave her many talents: thriftiness, integrity and virtue. She tied countless quilts for family and friends. One talent she was lacking in was gardening. She would plant 100 pounds of potatoes and harvest 100 pounds of potatoes. The thing she did understand about gardening though, it had a lot more to do with raising kids than potatoes. She was preceded in death by 2 sisters, 2 brothers and her parents. She is survived by her children, Ronda (Rich) Kotter of Spanish Fork, UT; Wayne (Iris) Briggs of Sheridan, WY; Dean (Wendy) Briggs of Whitehall, MT; Dennis Briggs of Whitehall, MT; Glade (Julie) Briggs of Douglas, WY; Mark (Tammy) Briggs of Whitehall, MT; Gayla (Lance) Sieler of Three Forks, MT; Jeffery (Stacy) Briggs of Whitehall, MT; Teresa (Randy) Fridell of Goshen, UT, and three sisters, Mary Jane Heninger, Lura Jean Youngberg, and Lois Lowell all of Utah. A graveside service will be held Saturday March 28, 2020, at 2 p.m. at the Whitehall Cemetery. All are welcome. Due to the recent virus threat, no formal funeral can be held at this time.
