Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana

Ted R. Miller

After 71 years Ted went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on October 27, 2019.

Ted spent his retired years in Las Vegas, Nevada with his loving wife of 11 years, Susan Miller. He was born August 10, 1948, in Dillon, Montana to Theodore and Mary Miller. They resided at Monida. Theodore passed when Ted was a toddler. Ted and his mother moved to Lima. At this time, with the generosity of a concerned friend of the family, Ted was sent to the Shriner's Hospital for Children in Spokane to have surgery and therapy on his club foot where he would spend a lot of his childhood and early teenager years. Eventually, they moved to Butte, MT where they made their home. A few years later Ted's mother met and married Terry Lockyer. They had five children: Terry, David, Lurene, and twins Kristie and Kellie.

Ted also had a half-brother, Bruce Miller, that was Theodore's son from a previous marriage. Ted was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, William and Matilda Miller, parents Theodore and Mary Miller, siblings David Lockyer and Lurene Hoggatt and his nephew Justin Lockyer. Ted is survived by brother Terry Lockyer, sisters Kristie Lockyer and Kellie Haberman (Kevin), and numerous nieces and nephews.

Ted went to grade school at Webster-Garfield in Butte and Butte High School. His senior year he graduated from Whitehall High School. He graduated from Barber College in 1981. He also graduated from an air-conditioning and refrigeration school in Phoenix, AZ.

Ted was a hard-working man with many different skills. After school and weekends, he worked at the S&S Jewelry Store in Butte. He also worked at Keb's Tire Station in Whitehall. He worked several years at the Berkley Pit. He worked for Western Signs doing highway construction. He moved to Elko Nevada and worked for the Newmont Gold mine until he retired after 21 years.

Ted's life was multi-faceted like the diamond he was. He was a very loving, kind, caring person with a big heart. That is how his family and friends will cherish his memory. His humorous personality is what made us laugh and kept us coming back for more. He was a collector of many things. He enjoyed his motorcycles and the joy of the wind in his face. Hunting, fishing, and camping fulfilled his love of the great outdoors. His many talents included music. He played and collected a variety of instruments with a heart for guitars. Ted had a love for animals especially dogs his dog Swinkie brought him much joy and happiness. He loved to entertain and have fun with family and friends.

He had a special bond with his sister, Kellie, and a deep and everlasting friendship with her husband, Kevin, and son, Spence, and her daughter Rikell. He devoted every summer to come and spend time with them. Ted will be sadly missed by his loving family and friends.

Ted loved children and that was evident in how he cared for his family, so in Ted's honor, memorials can be made in his name Ted R. Miller to Shriner's Hospital for Children P.O. 2472 Spokane, Washington 99210-2472

Ted was an exceptional human being, husband, son, brother, brother-in-law, uncle, and friend. He selflessly took care of his family and friends. His heart was huge, and he will be forever remembered. A celebration of life in honor of Ted will be this upcoming Spring.
