Trojans hosting high powered Manhattan

The Whitehall/Harrison High School football team will be looking to pick up their first conference win of the season in a homecoming matchup against high-powered Manhattan.

The Trojans (2-2, 0-1 Southern B) lost a tough 6-0 defensive battle last Friday night against Townsend.

The Bulldogs would score the lone points of the game on a second quarter touchdown run from Tommy Steward. Trojans head coach Dan Lacey said he was extremely proud of how the defense played.

“Outside of a few big plays they were lights out all night,” he said.

On the offensive side of the ball, Lacey said his team needs to make sure to play better on early downs.

We have had chances in each of the previous game to score a lot of points and we haven’t been able to. We have to capitalize on our opportunities and take care of the football,” he said.

Lacey added he was really happy with the play of junior Tegan Robbins.

“He was all over the field in all three phases of the game,” he said.

The Tigers (3-0) will come into the Friday game off an impressive 27-14 road win over Missoula Loyola.

We are excited to take on a great Manhattan team who is playing really good football right now. We look forward to the opportunity and will be ready to play Friday night,” Lacey said. “Some of the keys for Friday’s game need to be to manage the clock. They are explosive on offense so we need to keep them off the field as much as possible. They do a great job of running the football so containing the run of defense will be key. Offensively we need to limit turnovers and take advantages of the opportunities we are given.”
