Peggy Mae Patrick Armstrong

Peggy Mae Patrick Armstrong, age 91, died Friday, April 5, 2019 at the Tobacco Root Care Center in Sheridan. Her daughter Bonnie was by her side as she made her final journey.

Peggy was born in Cardwell, Montana to Josie and Sam Patrick on November 12, 1927. Peggy’s maternal grandparents were custodians at the Cardwell School, where Josie gave birth to Peggy while staying with Grandma and Grandpa Kyle in the apartment which was attached to the school. The day after her birth, Peggy Mae was taken to the first grade class room to show the students, one of which was Harry Armstrong. Little did Harry know that he was meeting his bride-to-be at the School on that day.

Harry and Peggy were joined in marriage on December 5, 1946 in Bozeman, Montana. After they were married they lived in Cardwell, Anaconda and Sheridan, Montana as well as in Renton, Washington for a brief two years. Together they raised three children.

They were owners of the Standard Station and co-owners of the Texaco Station in Sheridan. Peggy later worked as Clerk of Sheridan High School.

Peggy’s favorite memories were gardening and camping in an old school bus Harry converted into a motor home. The family enjoyed numerous camping trips in the big “Silver Bus.”

Peggy was preceded in death by Harry, her parents, her brother, Chuck Patrick, her sister, Margaret Maeirt and great granddaughter Riley Grace Armstrong. She is survived by son David (Janet) Armstrong of Helena, Montana; daughters Bonnie (John) Snelders of St George, Utah and Diane Armstrong of Dillon, Montana; brother Al (Bonnie) Patrick of San Leandro, California. She is also survived by 3 grandchildren Krista Ratterree of Caldwell, Idaho; Brian (Julie) Armstrong of Bozeman, Montana; Jason (Shanda) Armstrong of Helena, Montana; by 6 great grandchildren Cheyenne, Kaylee, MacKinzee, Kyler, Michael and Alyssa and numerous nieces and nephews.

Peggy loved to entertain family and friends, as her home was a favorite place for gatherings and celebrations. She was especially fond of the city park right across the street where picnics were frequent and fun.
