Her children: Diane Hutcheson, Dr. Timothy & Dr. Rebecca Sturmer, Peter & Marilee Sturmer, Christine & Michael Williams; twelve grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Edith was born in Karlsruhe Germany in 1924 to Klara and Emil Mueller. When Edith was two months old, her parents returned to New York City where they raised Edith and her younger brother Fred.
Edith married Walter Sturmer in 1950 and raised their children in the suburbs of NY city. Edith worked for the town of North Castle in the Assessor's department. She retired with Walter to Whitehall, Montana where they built their dream log cabin on the mountain. Edith's resilience was shown by rebuilding the mountain home that was destroyed by the Mile Post 19 Fire in 2012, three months after the death of her husband. Edith remained on the mountain until 2017 where at 93, she moved to The Springs Living in Butte.
Edith Sturmer was loved by everyone. She will be missed by everyone both on the mountain and at The Springs Living in Butte. dith was known, for being strong, independent, kind and loving wife, mother and friend.
The Sturmer Family will hold a Celebration of Life for Edith on May 27, 2019, on the mountain.
