Serving Southern Jefferson County in the Great State of Montana
Whitehall senior Cade Briggs had a huge night Saturday leading the way for the Trojans impressive 53-37 home conference win over Manhattan.
Briggs finished his night with a career high of 23 points.
Whitehall (3-5, 2-2 5B) head coach Zach McLean said Briggs had a couple looks early in the first quarter that he did not shoot.
"We told him those are shots he HAS to take for us. I thought Cade responded really well. Cade is a good shooter and he has to stay aggressive," he said.
After trailing 14-8 at the end of the first quarter, the Trojans dominated with the rest of the way and outscored the Tigers 17-8 in the second quarter and 17-5 in the third.
"Defensively, that first quarter we came out flat. We applied some pressure in the full court and that got us going offensively. We extended our zone and tried to run them off the three-point line. That was our goal, to defend the three-point line, and try to force them to shoot challenged mid range shots," McClean said.
Clay Wolfe was also in double figures with 10 points. Freshman Brendan Wagner had nine, Hayden Hoagland finished with six and Dylan Smith added five points.
The team will play on the road Friday at Townsend and Saturday at Missoula Loyola.
